Donald Shiffman was born in the city of Detroit and attended Detroit Public Schools, graduating from Henry Ford High School in June of 1966. He attended Wayne State University and received a Business Administration degree in June of 1970. Following graduation, he applied for and obtained admission to Detroit College of Law. He obtained a JD degree in June of 1973. In the fall of 1973, he was admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan and admitted to practice law in the United States Federal Court. Also, in the fall of 1973, following a law clerkship, he became an associate attorney with the law firm of Bockoff and Zamler, P.C., with the primary responsibility of trial litigation of worker’s disability compensation and Social Security disability claims. In the summer of 1989, he became a senior partner and remains with the law firm of Zamler, Shiffman & Karfis, P.C. Donald is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and a member of the Worker’s Compensation Section and Social Security Disability section of the State Bar of Michigan. He is also a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representative. He has had the opportunity to author articles appearing in journals and newspapers discussing worker’s disability compensation and Social Security disability. Donald has also participated in seminars and lectures to unions and other professionals regarding worker’s disability compensation and Social Security disability. He has received a distinguished high rating in both legal ability and ethical standards from Lexis Nexis/Martindale-Hubbell.
Personally, he cherishes his time with his family which includes his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoys watching all types of sports and playing golf.
